NIPPLE & AREOLA RECONSTRUCTION

150 MINUTES FROM £225

This is an incredible treatment for both men and women, and we proudly offer this service free of charge to one client per month (please get in touch for more information). Sadly, hundreds of people each year suffer some sort of chest trauma that leaves them with scarring around the nipple or even total loss of the nipple and areola. This treatment is designed to put back what was lost, and help you feel like yourself again. We use intricate shading techniques to camouflage scaring, and create the illusion of a 3D nipple protruding from the skin... and yes, this is possible even on a completely flat surface! The process itself takes roughly 2 hours per nipple, and if reconstruction is only needed on one side, we will match the tattoo to the existing healthy nipple. We advise waiting a year post surgery to allow the area to fully heal before we can safely and successfully perform the treatment.

SCAR CAMOUFLAGE TATTOO

120 MINUTES FROM £225

Scar camouflage tattoo's are a fantastic way to help disguise light coloured scars from surgery, burns, self harm, or any other form of trauma. Tiny dots of pigment are gently implanted in the skin to help blend the light coloured scar with the surrounding skin (or hair) to achieve a natural and realistic result. This procedure can be performed anywhere on the body, however the scar itself must be at least 12 months old and lighter in colour than the surrounding skin for a successful treatment. If the scar is tight or rough in texture, we can also perform dry needling to help stimulate the bodies wound healing response to relax the skin.

About Paramedical Tattooing

WHAT IS MEDICAL TATTOOING?

Medical micropigmentation, or paramedical tattooing, is the process of implanting pigment into the upper layers of the skin to create a desired effect. Medical tattooing can be used to help disguise a range of issues including conditions that were present from birth such as webbed toes, cleft lip or loss of pigment in the skin. It can also help with conditions that developed later in life or through trauma, such as vitilgo, scar camouflage, nipple & areola reconstruction or stretch marks.

Questions About Medical Micropigmentation

MEDICAL TATTOO FAQs

  • Having visible differences or skin abnormalities can have a negative impact on our mental wellbeing which over time can effect your day to day life. Medical tattooing is a fantastic way to build your confidence, self-esteem and improve your body image.

  • Nipple and areola reconstruction tattoo is most commonly used for breast cancer survivors however it can also be a restorative, confidence building treatment if you have had any of the following; breast augmentation, mastectomy, breast lift, breast reduction, male chest reconstruction, sex reassignment, or you are simply unhappy with the size/shape of your areola.

  • Scars should be at least 1 year old, flat and lighter in colour than the surrounding skin. If a scar is pink, tight, textured or raised we can look at doing a few sessions of microneedling to improve the skin before we look at scar camouflage.

  • Some minor discomfort may be experienced but this will vary from person to person depending on the area to be treated. Some scar tissue will lose sensitivity, whereas others don't, and also your individual pain tolerance will impact this. We do everything we can to ensure you are as comfortable as possible throughout your procedure.

  • Yes, as long as you are at least 1 year post surgery and the area is fully healed you are safe to get medical tattooing.

  • Any type of scar can be treated as long as it is flat and paler in colour than the surrounding skin, for example self harm scars, surgical scars, burns, injuries and other skin imperfections that you'd like to conceal.

  • The results will last a number of years however as the pigments we use are so light in colour you may find that a touch up may be needed at some point to maintain your results.

  • You are able to tan, but you should be aware that it may cause your medical tattoo to become more noticeable. Your medical tattoo pigments will be chosen to match the colour of your skin when you come for your first appointment. If you tan and the skin surrounding your tattoo darkens, then the area that was once camouflage may become more obvious. It's always a good idea to protect your skin and your medical tattoo with sun cream to maintain the best results.

  • There are a few factor that can impact your healed result, including:

    • Skin tones

    • Skin characteristics type, scars, damage, texture, thickness)

    • Individuals ability to heal

    • Medication or illnesses

    • Lifestyle factors (smoking, alcohol, sun exposure)

  • Other types of medical tattoo include:

    • Cleft lip reconstruction

    • Vitiligo camouflage

    • Scalp micropigmentation for those with alopecia

Maisie is always on hand to offer advice or support if you have any questions following your procedure.
