Frequently Asked Questions
What is dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a non surgical exfoliation technique that involves gently sweeping a specially designed blade across the skin to remove dead skin cells and vellous hair (peach fuzz) to reveal a glowing, smooth complexion!
Why should I have this treatment?
Dermaplaning has been seen to gradually minimise the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and acne scars. Your skin will be left super smooth and will be the perfect canvas for flawless makeup application. The removal of dead skin and peach fuzz also allows for deeper penetration of skin care products, so they can really work their magic and do the job they are supposed to be doing.
Does it hurt?
This treatment is non invasive and won't hurt at all - its actually very relaxing! There is no downtime and the effects can be seen immediately, however after the treatment your skin will be more sensitive to sun exposure. Your technician will apply an SPF before you leave, but its a good idea to keep reapplying your own in the days after your treatment.
Will the hair grow back thicker and darker?
This is something a lot of clients worry about but fear not... it is physically impossible! The hair will begin to grow back after 3-4 weeks exactly as it was before your treatment.
How often can I have this treatment?
Dermaplaning can be performed every 3-4 weeks. This is how long it takes for the skin to complete its rejuvenation cycle and for another layer of dead cells and peach fuzz to form.
Is dermaplaning for me?
Dermaplaning can be performed in almost all skin types except for acneic skin. If you do suffer from acne it is best to wait until any breakouts have cleared before having this treatment. A consultation will be carried out before your treatment to discuss any allergies or sensitivities your skin may have. Dermaplaning is suitable for men and also for ladies who are pregnant or nursing - no harsh chemicals are used so there is no risk to them being passed to your baby.
